I once had a dog who never complained, never criticised, and was always there when I needed comfort.
Now he waits patiently for me at the gate of Heaven.
I know when he first senses I am near his ears will perk up and his tail will begin to wag and when he sees me he will rush to me leaping and barking joyfully and I will embrace him and bury my face in his warm fur.
And I will know that I am in Heaven.

Dogs' lives are short.
Their only fault really.
